Grain Boundary Network
The material properties of polycrystals can be significantly enhanced via grain boundary engineering (GBE). GBE is to tailor GB network properties by tuning GB character distribution and GB network connectivity. Our group is employing meso-scale network simulations, and statistical physics tools (1) to investigate the expression of individual GB properties through GB network under the crystallographic constraints; (2) to establish a connection between GB network characteristics and macroscopic properties of materials; (3) to optimize polycrystal properties via GB network characteristic design.\
